Hicksville H.S. Students Donate Artwork For Permanent Display
Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano was joined by Legislator Rose Marie Walker, Commissioner of Social Services John Imhof, Hicksville Superintendent Dr. Carl Bonuso, Board of Education President Phil Heckler, and Hicksville High School Principal Ray Williams, to dedicate a permanent art exhibit at the Nassau County Health and Human Services Building located at 60 Charles Lindbergh Boulevard in Uniondale, on Friday, June 10th.
“I am delighted and proud to recognize the talents of our youth by providing them an opportunity to showcase their work,” said County Executive Mangano. “It is important that we take the time to honor talented young people who are willing to give of their time and energy to improving the lives of our citizens, and to bring joy to those who appreciate art.”
The exhibit consists of artwork created by the students of the National Art Society at Hicksville High School, and the pieces range from drawings to metal work to photography—a culmination of a year-long project for the students who fashioned their pieces through the supervision of Honor Society art teacher, Ms. Angela Galante.
“Hicksville Schools are proud of the many accomplishments of all our students, and this exhibit is but one example of our district’s talent and dedication to our local communities,” said Hicksville School District Superintendent, Dr. Carl Bonuso.
The National Art Honor Society is an organization in which distinguished art students are recognized and have the opportunity to share their talents and abilities within the high school, the district and the community.
